The United Sates government is the world’s largest purchaser. Last year the US Federal government spent over $10 Trillion dollars. State governments have spending budgets as well.
Federal and state budgets prioritize manufacturing, service based, and reseller industries. Government purchasing policy sets-aside and incentivizes small businesses. The reason they do this is simple. More small businesses means more Americans are making money. More Americans making money means that the government can make more by taxing those Americans more. Agencies like SBA (Small Business Administration), and other departments, want to grow Federal and state small businesses.
